Do you know an entrepreneur who is doing something extraordinary for the environment and his or her community? If you talked to them, you might have noticed they often have a hard time finding resources to carry their projects forward. With so many extraordinary and innovative ideas coming out from green small and medium-sized enterprises, there is a huge potential for positive environmental impact. So where are the most innovative green entrepreneurs?
This September, the Ground_Up Project is launching a pilot program called ‘Scouting for Green’ to find these entrepreneurs and to bridge the gap between them and the resources they need.
During 3 months, the pilot program is open to volunteer scouters from all around the world. They will be invited to look for and gather information about businesses in their networks and communities. The goal of Scouting for Green is to identify and recruit 100 green SMEs to the online platform of The Ground_Up Project. In the process, participants will be challenged to understand how green businesses operate, what their needs are, and what the challenges are of data collection on the ground.
Volunteers will benefit from training and webinars, as well as networking opportunities. Webinars will include international guest speakers such as the Chief Investment Officer of a prominent fund, a grassroots expert that mobilises local communities to address environmental challenges and an international organisation that supports green technological innovation, among others. At the end of the pilot program, a short report will summarise the results. It will include insights on challenges and opportunities in working with networks on the ground to find and validate information about green businesses and other projects with a positive environmental and social impact. The report will be released around the climate COP in Paris later this year and will credit all participating volunteers. It is a brilliant opportunity for anyone who is interested in green businesses and its potential to grow and impact the environment.
